Where do the registration stickers go on a boat in Florida?

Florida, like most states, requires a state decal plus your Boat Registration Number Stickers. So where do the registration stickers go on a boat in Florida? According to the State of Florida’s vessel numbering and decals, the FL year sticker decal goes on the PORT side of the boat as follows:

A decal identifying the year that the vessel registration is valid will be issued with each registration certificate. The decal must be displayed on the port (left) side of the vessel, immediately before or after the registration number (see image below). Decals from expired registrations must be removed from the vessel.

Examples of FL boat registration stickers:

Florida boat registration stickers, like almost all in the USA, are 3″ tall, with a “letter space” between the FL and the four numbers and a letter space between the four numbers and the trailing two letters. In this example below, in our matte black, you can see this spacing. This typeface is narrow, which is perfect for smaller vessels such as jet skis and personal watercraft.

Applying FL Boat Registration Stickers

Shown here, our matte black boat registration number stickers in Bebas font. This font is narrow, which makes it perfect for personal watercraft, jet skis or anywhere you don’t have a lot of room right to left to display your stickers on your boat’s bow. The width between the FL and the numbers/letters is the width of a letter in that typeface – so a narrower font like Bebas, has narrower spacing (but still legal and compliant!) This matte black looks awesome on almost all hull colors and finishes.
